Anna Siedzik

Betsy Bruemmer, Collections Manager of Museum of History and Industry in Seattle, Wash., and Kristin Halunen, Registrar, at the same institution, are honored to recognize as a Museum 13er

Anna Siedzik
Assistant Registrar
Peabody Essex Museum
Salem, Mass.

From Ms. Bruemmer: Anna is amazing. She’s very smart, dedicated to museum work and optimistic about it in spite of all the challenges we face in collections work. She has a great sense of humor as well as emotional maturity. She is very organized and works very hard to ensure that things run smoothly. She was my supervisor for an all too brief period and gave me the perfect amount of attention and freedom, which I know takes consideration, behind-the-scenes preparation and organization. Because of her intellect and passion, I know she will go far and I look forward to seeing that.

Jacine Smallwood

Andrea Bailey Cox, Executive Director of the Maitland Historical Society in Maitland, Fla., and Jill Nash, Education and Public Programs Manager at the same institution, are honored to recognize as a Museum 13er

Jacine Smallwood
Development Manager
Maitland Historical Society
Maitland, Fla.

From Ms. Cox: In September of 2005 when I hired Jacine, we had many fantastic candidates for her position. Jacine?s resume had the type of community relations, marketing, and grants experience our institution was looking for, but it was in her interview that I knew she was the right person for the position. She stood apart from the other candidates in her passion and drive. Jacine has consistently lived up to that initial impression.

In her first 21 months at the Society, Jacine has increased membership by 20%, garnered the most press the Society has ever received, and created a high-quality, consistent look to our publications. Jacine has also played a major role in our fundraising success over the past year and a half. She received significant grant funding from three organizations to help fund a new exhibit and general operating costs. In November of 2006, Jacine planned our most successful fundraiser to date. Our annual benefit auction raised over 50% more in net revenue than any of the previous seven years.

This is Jacine’s fist museum position and she has found her fit in the museum world both personally and professionally. I am proud to have her on our team and I think she has much to give to the museum field in the years to come.
